December Minute Message

Fellow Federationists:

Season's Greetings.

Best wishes for a joyous, relaxing holiday season. May 2017 be a year filled
with success for the NFB as well as health and happiness for each member.
Together with love, hope, and determination, may we continue to turn dreams
into reality for blind people in 2017.

Remember to use AmazonSmile. Start with a smile at
<>  for your holiday gifts and Amazon
donates to National Federation of the Blind of Maryland Inc.

If you do not use the above link, and you use just the,
you will have to select National Federation of the Blind of Maryland as your
charity, for the first time. There are many charities on the list. So be
careful when making your selection. NFBMD will receive donations from
eligible purchases. Not all products are included. Look at the product
detail page to see if the item counts for a donation. When you come back to
the site for future purchase, AmazonSmile will automatically remember the
charity that you selected. Merely going to will not permit a
charitable donation.

Youth Slam Needs Adult Volunteer & Students!

Some say that blind students cannot learn science, technology, engineering,
or mathematics. The members of the National Federation of the Blind say
"Slam that!" Dates and a location are now available for the 2017 NFB Youth
Slam-a week-long, hands-on, STEM learning program for one hundred blind and
low-vision high school students from across the country. This program of the
NFB Jernigan Institute's National Center for Blind Youth in Science will be
held July 23-29, 2017, at Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Individuals who are interested in volunteering to help the members of the
NFB "Slam that!" and are available July 21-29, 2017, should apply at
<> The deadline to
apply is January 31, 2017.

We also need to spread the word so that students from Maryland and their
parents know that high school students should apply to attend this exciting
program.  For student applications go to
<> and apply by May 7, 2017.
