The Sligo Creek book club welcomes all of Maryland to our October meeting to discuss the book The Country of the Blind: A Memoir at the End of Sight (DB115575, BR25166 on BARD).  The author begins losing vision as an adult and has to decide when and whether he can actually call himself blind.  He discusses his experiences with the National Federation of the Blind, including local chapters, training centers, and conventions.  We will discuss his interactions with the NFB and how we meet blind people where they are.  We will also discuss our definition of blindness and how our views of blindness might help everyone wherever they are on their vision loss journey.  Please join us on Sunday afternoon, October 18, at 2:30 in the NFB of Maryland Zoom room. If you have not read or finished the book, join us anyhow and participate in a discussion that is continuing throughout the history of our organization.
