White Cane Safety Day community celebration “Walk a Mile in My Shades”!

I want to extend a formal invitation to all of you to join us at our White Cane Safety Day community celebration “Walk a Mile in My Shades”!

On October 15th Blind Industries and Services of Maryland in partnership with the Catonsville Chamber of Commerce, Greater Arbutus Business Association and the National Federation of the Blind are holding a free community celebration for this year’s White Cane Safety Day.

White cane safety Day is the annual celebration of the White cane bill being signed into law which allows for the carrying of a white cane/service animal by blind people in order to safely navigate the world around them.

Our celebration will have:

• Kona Ice and Tasty Empanadas food trucks
• Hands on educational activities
• An interactive walk led by staff and students at BISM
• And plenty of networking opportunities

We’ll kick things off with a White Cane Day Walk, bringing together BISM employees, students, alumni, families and friends. Following the walk, we’ll gather to celebrate White Cane Safety Day, recognize our community and share a little more about what the white cane represents.

If you previously registered for the evening event, please note that the original 4:30–7:00 PM event will no longer take place.

We would love to see all of you there!  If this is something that you are interested in, please register at the link below.
