RESOLUTION 1978-01 John T. McCraw profoundly impact the quality of life for blind people

WHEREAS John T. McCraw has had a profound impact upon improving the quality of life for blind people in Maryland and
across the nation by his active involvement in the National Federation of the Blind, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Blind Industries and Services of Maryland; and
WHEREAS John T. McGraw spoke most eloquently and possessed a very dynamic personality which made him a unique leader in all of his endeavors; and
WHEREAS John T. McCraw, as President of the National Federation of the Blind of Maryland for twelve years, Chairman of the Blind Industries and Services of Maryland Board of
Directors for three years, and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Federation of the Blind during the last year of his life, is largely responsible for
the high position occupied by the organized blind movement of Maryland in the overall state community; and
WHEREAS John T. McCraw, during his entire life, unselfishly displayed love and compassion not only for blind people, but also for the poor, the ill, the aged, and other dis­ advantaged people; and
WHEREAS John T. McCraw, as a true leader and teacher of future leaders, left a special part of his character and personality in all who associated with him: Now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the National Federation of the Blind of Maryland in Convention assembled this 28th day of October 1978 in the City of Baltimore, Maryland, that we, the members of this organization, pledge to honor the memory and many contributions of John T. McCraw by rededicating ourselves to increased efforts on behalf of the organized blind movement: and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we, the members of this organization, pledge to cooperate with each other in a spirit of harmony and with a unity of purpose; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that by our efforts the influence and effectiveness of this organization will not fade away without the guidance and leadership of John T. McGraw.
